MUSIC IN LIFE
Sa re ga ma pa dha ni – sa – ni dha pa ma ga re sa.
Are these seven or eight words? Yes, these are seven but close an Octave in rotation. Again, they are not words only but different sounds called Swars in music anthem. An Octave, group of eight Swars - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa, is the foundation for evolution of music.
The recognition of these sounds and knowledge where, when and how to use makes a man artist, maestro or Guru in the field of music and his music becomes immortal. In the whole universe, flows the sound of music and whosoever is able to pick those sounds can become a follower of divine power of music.
Music recognized in its three forms: Vocal (gaayan), Instrumental (vaadyan) and Dance (nritya) sure needs rhythm to progress. So another participant in music evolution is Laya or Taal. Knowledge and virtuosity combined in the use of swar and taal make the music perfect.
Indian musical gayaki (vocal music) has its own vocabulary of expressions such as Raagdari in vistar, variation in Bat and Bol, Tan and Sargam highlighting forms of Murchana, Alankar, Sapat, Halak, Gamak, Meerkhand etc.
Different Gharanas ( Traditional Houses of Music) have their own style of music adaakari whether it is vocal, instrumental or dance form of music.
Genre, another aspect is referred to the styles of music that exist and are recognizable based on their own distinctive theme, format and technique. The artists/performers across the whole world enjoy presenting their music in varying genres and are recognized for their contributions to the music.
Learning of music: it is a God given gift and when it is so, learning becomes natural, less exertive and quick involving. Otherwise learn, practice and practice is the key. Take the opportunity to listen live performance of your favorite artist, go to concerts, write down the tips of experience, and share the knowledge.
Learning music is a life long process and you are always a prospect as well as an obedient student.
Decide first whether your interest in music is up to hobby or a professional career. Then focus on chances how to pursue that level. Simply being talented is not enough; you have to be in like minded individuals, having practicing capabilities, looking for a break in performing circles. Don’t be shy and look for the people you know can assist you in pursuing your dream.
Formal education in music is essential from a Guru to create a strong foundation. Established musicians have their life time Gurus and mentors. Their music is always creative, inspiring and fresh. Every experience is valuable and will make you more confident performer whether or not you are a professional.
Do not be unusual by not loving music. If do not prefer to be a student, be a good listener.
