The Hindi movie ‘I am Kalam’, shines a spotlight on the urgent need to provide formal education to the marginalized and underprivileged children in India. Despite India Government’s well intentioned and proactive measures to tackle the problem-The Right to Education Act and Child Labor Act, there are countless orphans and runaways children who have no access to education and are continually exploited by unscrupulous farmers, tea-stall and dhaba owners, restaurants, factories etc. This insightful, engaging, delightful, and fast-paced debut movie by Nila Madhab Panda has premiered at Cannes Film Festival and already garnered several prestigious National and International Awards.
