Dance India Dance is India’s largest dance-reality based tv show on Zee TV. The show is choreographed by some of the most popular Indian choreographers, such as Terence Lewis, Remo D'Souza and Geeta Kapoor. Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty is the grandmaster of the show. DID gathers talent from all over India, North America, South America, Australia, and England.
Shivani has rose to this momentous stage of DID as the only US contestant pre-selected by Zee TV from over 100 US contestants and more than 5000 Indian contestants. Currently Shivani is in Mumbai where she is auditioning to receive her “Takdheer Ki Topi” which places her in the Top 100 of DID Season 3. The show will begin airing December 24th on Zee TV.
Shivani Gandhi is a versatile and creative choreographer, instructor, and dancer from Atlanta, Ga. Shivani has had classical Bharat Natyam dance training in her early life and performed her Arangetram at a tender age of 13. After her graduation, she was a dance instructor at Kruti Dance Academy in Atlanta for six more years. Besides Bharat Natyam, she has also been trained in Indian Folk, Bollywood Freestyle, Bollywood Fusion, Indian Contemporary, Tutting, Latin, Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop dancing. This past summer, Shivani was accepted into the 3 month Broadway Dance Center Training Program in New York City where she received a Certificate of Excellence studying hip hop, ballet, and jazz.
Her dance accolades started in 2004-2005 when she won Atlanta competition for Boogie Woogie Chalo America and participated as a finalist in the national competition. She was also a finalist in 2006 “Show Me Your Jalwa” dance competition.
2008 was a special year for Shivani. She founded her own dance team “PAHELI” at Georgia State University as a freshman. They won first place at the Tamasha Dance Competition in 2010. She also won Beauty awards in 2008; as “ Miss Heart of the South” with “Miss Photogenic “ title, “ Miss India Georgia 2008” with “ Best Talent and Miss Photogenic” titles and “Miss India USA 2008” third runner up award with “ The Best Smile” title.
This would be her second trip to India in 2011 to the Bollywood city. Earlier this year she was part of Chak Dhoom Dhoom Season 2 - Team Challenge on Aapka Colors as the Top 8 Finalist Team with Kruti Dance Academy. She received special recognition for her talent from one of the judges, famous actress Ms. Urmila Matondkar.
