De Beers Predicts India as Instrumental to Drive Next Wave of Diamond Growth

India is essentially a gold loving country but it has proved to be the springboard for the next growth in diamond jewellery. Diamond had been in demand since the times of nawabs and maharajas and now the demand for diamond jewellery is again on the rise, even in the well established bridal market, said Nicky Oppenheimer, the Chairman of the De Beers Group and added that after the success of the De Beer brands like Nakshatra, Asmi, Sangini and Arisia in India, the company is planning to launch ‘Forevermark’ diamonds in the beginning of 2011.

The ‘Forevermark’ diamonds would be inscribed with the ‘Forevermark’ icon and would have a unique identification number.
