Catherine “Kate” Elizabeth Middleton is what every girl aspires to be — smart, beautiful, popular and a soon-to-be princess! Though the future Princess of Wales will continue to be a “commoner” until April 29, she is anything but common.
From the time she became Prince William’s girlfriend in 2001, she has captured the attention of not only the media, but also of critics, fashionistas and other “commoners”. Before becoming Will’s fiancée, Kate worked as an accessory buyer before taking private photography classes. And after her wedding she intends to embark on a career in charity. She’s said to be level-headed, independent, friendly and despite her middle-class upbringing, makes a royal match seem like a “common occurrence.”
And she’s imprinting the wedding do with that “normal” standard — declining a horse-drawn carriage ride to Westminster Abbey, as is customary for royal brides, choosing instead to go by car; emailing “save-the-date” invites; opting not to have a sit-down wedding meal and choosing not to say “I obey” as part of her wedding vows. From the day Kate and Will announced their engagement on November16, 2010, Kate has been making headlines — perhaps more so when her decision to invite her “ex’s”to the wedding became known. But instead of being shocked, people are lauding her as a breath of fresh air.
Dinaz Noria, wedding planner, says, “Royalty is an institution in England. Kate, by doing what she wants and how she wants it, is bringing in a fresh twist. And why not! After all, change is inevitable.”
