An in-uniform Sachin said, after watching Tom Cruise in Top Gun as teenager he liked wearing aviator sunglasses. He was also fond of fighter planes and super bikes. But he had the privilege of getting into fighter plane in 1996 in South Africa. He was really scared but never revealed this.
The Air Force has awarded Sachin with this honorary rank for his achievements in the field of cricket. In the formal statement in June from Rashtrapati Bhawan it was announced that, President Pratibha Patil had decided to include Sachin under the provision of grant of honory rank by armed forces to eminent personalities for their contribution in their respective fields.
Tendular will be the brand ambassador and is expected to inspire many young men and women to join air force.
